According to Elecktrek on Tuesday, Rivian headhunted three top engineers from Tesla recently specifically chosen to work on a new charging network. Rivian has been the talk of the town over the past couple of years as Ford has invested $500 million and is set to work with the company on joint products, although they recently cancelled a joint project for a Lincoln built on the Rivian Platform.
It has been no secret that Rivian has Tesla in its sights, the two companies have a lot of similarities and a lot of large money players involved. Given that Tesla has an expansive “Supercharger” network for it’s customers, it only makes sense that Rivian would start investing in building a competing network. This new network is rumoured to be called the “Rivian Adventure Network” and seems to be the reason that Rivan hired Carrington Bradley, a seven-year Tesla veteran previously part of the charging program.
The other two employees they have hired were both former Tesla charging network engineers but both had worked in other companies after Tesla before joining Rivian.
